Rick just called. He's 30 miles west of Albuquerque and his water pump is failing. He has water and is going to try to get her here, but Nico and I are on stand by with the Burb and a strong rope.

I guess he'll be a house guest for a couple of days.

Any one have a 928 water pump you can overnight?

Sucks! It's a good thing he's got club members to depend on. Good luck... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif)

Bummer! When I saw him this afternoon he was mildly concerned about the oil burning, but he commented that water temps were right where he wanted them. I'm glad he got as far as he did. If needed, there are probably more resources in Albuquerque than here in Flagstaff.

This is for Rick: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif)

It's OK. It's just a water pump and he has a place to stay for as long as it takes.

When he told me today about last year's incident it sounded like he had checked the water pump and it was fine so I think he only did the oil pump.

The pump was a reman. I installed it late last summer. This is the last thing I expected. Joe and I are going to hunt for a replacement tomorrow. It couldn't of happened in a better place.

If devek doesn't have one (unlikely)...you can also try one of these 928 specialty places:

928 Specialists: http://www.928gt.com/

or

928 International: http://www.mailordercentral.com/928intl/

All play in the 928 space exclusively.

Good luck!

You are right...it couldn't have happened in a better place. Joe is an AWESOME guy, and I'm sure you two will come up with something...remember to take pics!

What 'year' engine is that? I'm trying to call some people around here, but I need to know what year the engine is.

There is a place called VertexAuto (1-866-668-0660) that has new OEM pumps for $175. (no core)

Here's the pic from their site.

(IMG:http://www.vertexauto.com/andy/928pump.jpg)

That's just from poking around...let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

You could just swap him engines Joe. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif)

Rick, while you have the front of the engine in view. Would you take a photo of how you did away with the oil fill tube that went down the front of the engine. I know when we redid the pan it loses that feature but I can not remember how you did away with the hose that comes off the top of the engine to it. Also how you plugged where it comes off the breather deal. Thanks Larry

Joe,

One of my friends owns 928 International in Anaheim. Let me know what you need and I will get it overnighted. Call me with details.
