Nothing against Portland...but Vegas is closer and I can take the kids, they would have entertainment and the wife won't complain as much.....

I vote Portland, not just to be contrary to "Z" but because I'm more into scenery and greenery than smoking and gambling (which is how I still perceive Vegas).

Although if we do Vegas we could have a CSI type tech session (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/welder.gif)

I was new to the club in 04 and we couldn't swing the time to go to WCC05, but we WILL go in 06'. Really, either one I would go to, but I like the Portland area, voted for that. But Vegas is cool too.

Only 10 votes so far? Everyone has been talking about this, would figure there would be like 100+ votes by now? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Vegas is more centralized with something for everyone. It even has 2 tracks we could go to and the mountain roads just outside of Vegas are great.

Vegas would be good if it were done during the same approximate time of the year. Any later however, and it would be unbearably hot to do much outside the confines of a well air conditioned casino. I raced Vegas many times durring those 115-120 degree days; believe me, it was real tough. Vegas really does have a lot more than just casino's; Coke building tour , Mashmellow factory, MGM Grand theme area, the water park, Vegas museum, and my recipe to keep the wife happy.....take her to the Showcase Mall and buy her something; it's better that gambling away all your money! Oh, nearly all the shows are very good....at the track, there was a guy giving away free tickets to a magic show where his up-and-comming, trying-to-make-a-name-for-himself, magician friend was performing; Great show! Slipped the usher a $20, and he sat us in the 3rd row center.

Of course since I live reasonably close to Camarillo, and Willow Springs, that would be my first choice.

we have roads in sw washington and the portland area too scott (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) . the loop up through orchards to mount hood is spactacular. lots of geothermal activity and the hot spring spa/resort selections are good. carry your wind board on the trailer for world class windsufing in the hood river area if that's your thing. believe it or not, it's just as a long to drive from our area as the to drive to yours. vegas is def a BIG no for me. maybe just plan split events next summer. i don't gamble so other than another long f-in drive l.v. has nothing i'm interested in. sure, it's centalized for you guys. plus, i'm 2 years solo and my wife would like to attend. that would have to be after school is out mid june. too hot!!!

No need to worry about '06...Howard has taken the reins again. He told me that he was arranging for a "Guppy" to fly us all to "The Ring"....The REAL Ring for the '06 bash.

I voted Portland, because it's the west COAST classic. Not much coastal about Vegas. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) I also see Vegas regularly but could use a good excuse to go to Portland. Of course time of year would influence my choice.. I wouldn't want to be in Vegas in August or Portland in February.

Sorry, this is my post from another thread

Things to do in Portland, or in the area.

1. Scenic Columbia Gorge-I believe this is the most beutiful thing that you can see in Oregon.
2.Twisty historic hwy through the columbia gorge.
3.Wine Country.
4. PIR
plus lots and lots more

There are lots of places to entertain yourselves. There are like 3 casino's that I can think of. The oregon Coast is Beutiful. McMennamis, for those of you who like the microbrew. Lots of Strip clubs (for those of you who like those things).Hooters.

We have Lots of nice parks like the Rose Garden. (The actual Garden, Not the Arena)

And for those who didn't want to drive to Portland, You may also be able to catch a flight to PDX if you don't want to drive.

VEGAS IN 2007!!!!!

I dont have anything against Portland, I know they have some beautiful roads and lots of great scenery. I only voted Vegas because it is only 4 hours from So Cal and 6 from Nor Cal. It would be great if we can get everybody to come and bring their wives and families too. It is more about the people than anything else. I will go to either one just to be a part of the get together. Let's just let the people vote and go with whatever everyone decides. Kevin, it was great to see you again this year, we had some good times and I hope to have many more.
