I have reduced the size by cutting it down, and would like to finish it off with the same look where I cut it.

A thick varnish may work?

You can't use anything solvent based, or it will melt the foam.

Maybe a brush-on water-based urethane varnish from the DIY might work, but test a small area 1st.

Why bother? It's covered with carpet, right? (Not trying to be sarcastic, just curious.)

Its not polystyrene so won't eat away with solvent paint, appears to be the same as spray foam but done in a mold.
You could always test with the cut offs to see if you have a reaction but you should be ok.
