Drivers in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic states did worst. Twenty percent of test-takers failed there.

i did not need a national survey to confirm this.

yikes! it's a thrill-a-minute out there...

people in my part of the world make left turns from the right lane - and right turns from the wrong lane. God help you if you're in the center lane - the car in front of you might do ANYTHING!

AND THEY WILL NOT GO ON GREEN! WHAT THE F&*< IS UP WITH THAT !?

The Northeast/mid-atlantics states are a piece of cake to drive in!!

I lived in Cairo for awhile, and drove throughout cairo/egypt. Talk about an eye opening experience!!

yea', thinking about craziest drivers.....

Rome, Italy. driving down a 5 lane one way street with no divider lines. it was like bumper pool.

NYCity. Same thing.
Tijuana. Same thing.

Best drivers. Germans. Period. End of story.
They have to go through many levels of driver testing.
Their cars go thru the same thing.

My job affords me the opportunity to drive in many, many places.

The worst drivers in the US, hands down: New Mexico. Don't even bother arguing the point until you'll driven here.

I think they need to do a recount for Oregon. I've yet to see a decent driver on the road (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mad.gif)

I recently returned from 9 day road trip all over New Mexico and didnt see much excitment in terms of bad drivers there.

I too do a lot of travel and would say bad driving is more of a city by city or road by road issue than state by state. I think HWY 880 between Fremont and Oakland in California has the highest number of dumb as$ drivers per 100 cars on the road (seems to have more than its fair share of the "fast and furious nuts" mixed with fast moving "24 inch wheel crowd"). Some places in Dallas Texas have consistently impressed me as a place full of bad drivers (think I'll never forget being passed by a van running on rims showering sparks everywhere! ...no cops chasing them)

I think Los Angeles gets a bad rap for bad drivers. I have commuted all over LA basin and on the whole drivers there are aggressive, but typically pretty good at staying with the flow of traffic.

Those are places relatively calm compared to India or Malaysia or some places in China.

A clear cut case for intensive driver's training, and MUCH stricter licensing requirements. Cut the number of drivers on the road by 50% and see the accident and death rates drop through the floor .................................. The Cap'n, who learned to drive when they still tested for parallel parking skills in CA ..........................

Oregonians are 'book smart' which doesn't necessarily translate to driving ability (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

California - #43 As bad as that is, it is in reality far worse. Immigrant rich CA can thank all its non-english speakers to raising test scores to the level of random probability. Not being able to read the questions prevented them from misinterpreting and incorrectly answersing questions, like everyone else.
