What's the deal with this block off plate?
Is this normal for a 2 liter?

Most likely a 2.0 bus case.

No, Bus block. That is where the oil fill tube was attached.
But, built properly T4 block is a T4 block...

As Mike D. said, it could of been at some point in a bus.

What year is your car or the car the engine came from?

I am asking because here are some pictures of a spare engine I have around and there is only the VW logo, no Audi. It's from a 74.

Hopefully Mark Henry can also chime in.
