Looking for the correct front oil cooler, preferable Setrab, to mount in front. The Patrick Motorsports one is 21.5 x 4.25, so I am guessing that is the maximum size I can go. Looking for a cheaper or direct alternative rather than spend $450 on the PMS one.

Hey - I extracted one from a Mercedes 300D in the local pick n pull. It sits vertically in the Mercedes, but fits nicely (horizontally) in the GT style front mount shroud area. The fittings are each end and metric, and you'll have to fab up your own mounts, but otherwise its a functional, high "value for money" option. Made by Behr as well, keeping that Germanic flavor to your freshly cooled oil.

Youre on to something with the Behr 300D cooler. Dimensions check out and used on EBay under $100, even new aluminum version only $250. Much better. Thanks

I used the huge RSR sized cooler from CFR coolers but the Rx7 was the staple for years and years

Mazda RX-7 Oil cooler? You have to cut the shroud to make the RX7 cooler work, but it is doable I have this in my race car installed by the PO, itβs working very well this season. Got a hot one coming up this weekend in Fontana. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) excellent choice ,when buying used get it cleaned ,you can soak it in a bath or get a ultrasonic clean which is best, amazing the shit that comes out after years of use. Diesel cars coolers tend to get really dirty which reduces oil cooling, petrol cars to a much lesser extent. |

Used coolers cost $75-150 + ship to get it clean and you are still risking your engine if something gets loose and travels through the oil path. |

Mazda RX-7 Oil cooler? You have to cut the shroud to make the RX7 cooler work, but it is doable I had one on my 6 cylinder track car. You need to do a bit of work to get the cooler to flow. Larger AN fittings, grind out a narrow inlet. |

@Montreal914 - looks like a smaller version of the one I have. Attached shot shows part number as well:
![]() @davep - the dimensions are (roughly) 20" wide and 4" high. It fits in nicely in a GT shroud without having to make cuts. - Tony |
