I'm doing a bit of rust repair on my '72. I started by cutting out the old right engine shelf and I found some rust on the bracket that hangs from the frame and supports the right engine mount. Anyway, the deeper I dug the worse the rust got (as was to be expected). Most of the rust is actually on the frame/longitudinal but it's behind the bracket. So I had to cut (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sawzall-smiley.gif) the bracket off to clear the rust and repair the area.
I need a new right engine mount bracket. Can anyone help? I can't find one for sale at the usual places (pelican, automobile atlanta, a google search, ebay) Anyone in Baltimore/DC area with a parts car from which I could cut one? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks! |

Try restoration design.
If not there...possibly used... It could be made out of probably 16 or 18 guage steel... Not really that difficult...copy the one on the other side... Rich |

So after hacking the top of the bracket I discovered a bunch of spot welds on the bottom. So I drilled those out and the rest of the bracket basically fell off the car in one piece. So I'll I need to do is repair the top portion I mangled.
I think it's actually 14 guage steel. Thanks again |
