I found that before I found Rennlist when I got interested in these cars back in 2000 - 2001. I surfed it for a day and found Rennlist. I have not been back to rennlist probably 5 or 6 years now.

I've been around 914's a long time, but a relatively newcomer to the internet, so that site was before my time. However I went into the classifieds and I knew some of the cars. I also saw some names in the eMail directory that I knew back then and haven't heard from in forever.

Thanks for the thread and link,

T.C.

IIRC this was the 1st webpage with 914-content when I started to look for more infos - that was somewhen around 1997 (or so). This time there was hardly any info in German, so I had to read all this english stuff (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

I think that Dave Darling was active on this page? He was my 1st contact in the USA and he answered lots of my newbie questions (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
I just checked my old eMails and found one from May 1997 where DD explained different engine types over the years. It's always cool to read this old mails (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Thanks for the link (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I loved that site. I used to use the chat feature to talk to some a guy in Oregon. He had a really nice white 914 and was into firetrucks. Cool guy.

I remember that site, I use to frequent it a lot when I first bought the 914 about 12 years ago. Someone from Pa. sent me a picture of the efi hose diagram for a 2.0 when I first got the car.

How time flys.

I love the link to "A Darling 914 Story".

Maybe Dave Darling's first post???

Excellent Memories!!! followed this site and read all the information before being involved with 914's.

Speaking of "Memories", I read somewhere Perry COULD NOT GET HIS conversion started. It happened right before going to a big Mid West meet back in somewhere 1988 or 89. He had to trailer it there and then conned Rich Johnson into working on and getting it running. Other 914 mainliners - Glenn, Brad Mayuer, etc. - were there.

Wat is the story, Perry??

Yes, that was in 1997 at the President's Meeting, for all the different Porsche Clubs worldwide. They wanted ALL recognized clubs to have an "approved" logo. That went over like a turd in a punch bowl, and I'm pretty sure Porsche dropped the issue.

I was representing the Club on behalf of Alex Buller, who had a stroke. Trip of a lifetime. In addition to touring the research and test facility at Wessach, Glenn and I got lost on a tour, driving a new 996. On one good stretch of the Autobahn Glenn got it spooled out pretty good.

Another vintage article!

http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...ic=91290&hl

I wasn't ever able to get that engine to run the way it was supposed to, and later (after putting a 3.0 in the car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) ) found the cams weren't timed correctly and made the MFI run bad.
