I believe DD and TC are spot on.
The real 914-6 GTs are certainly six-figure cars, but to put a 2 or a 3 on the front of those figures, the car had better be on a factory poster or have extensive and interesting history. For a 914-6 GT to reach or exceed RSR 2.8 money, it had better be one of the famous five. But then, someone always has the cash to prove me wrong. Question is, do they have the desire for a 914 at this much coin? Don't get me wrong... The 914-6 GT certainly has its charms, even compared to things like 962s. While the 962 is more exotic, more technically interesting, has broader appeal, is sexier, etc., it requires a level of skill, commitment, and finances to use and limitations in that use not present in the 914-6 GT. The GT can also be used on the street in most places, gets a warm welcome at a LOT of cool events (Tour Auto, Vintage Le Mans, Monterey Historics...), and could conceivably be taken care of by most "mere mortals." But then, a 911 S-T or RSR 2.8 offer the same benefits...in a wrapper more people seem to think is good-looking. pete |
