Just installed a new windshield and mounted the stock rearview mirror with adhesive pad. It doesn't seem very sturdy and I don't like the look of the white adhesive pad showing from the outside. And I don't really want to go with the glue method. So I'm thinking of an alternative. I've seen the several threads about fabricating something with a BMW type mirror. I'm wondering if anyone has used a VW mirror like late model beetle or Rabbit/Fox. I want to get an idea of what works before trolling the wrecking yards and internet.

Paul uses the rubber coated mercedes mirrors, which work just as well as the BMW (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I have core BMW mirrors in stock for cheap if you want to try to make your own (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
