For some weekend fun head up 101 into Mendocino county. 12 miles north of Willits is the turn off to my hometown Covelo in Round Valley. It has the record of being the curviest road in America.. or at least it did at one time.
(IMG:http://www.freewebs.com/shahuna/covelo_20013.jpg) One problem is that it will be an out and back unless you want to drive on dirt over the Yolla Bolly's and end up going the "back way" to Thunderhill and Williams. The plus side is then you can go out highway 20 from Willits to Fort Bragg then south on 1 all the way to Bodega Bay. |
