I ordered a new chrome unit from the UK. I'm saving the vintage lens for it. Thanks again Bliz.

I have a pair of factory mud flaps as well. I was considering them for the GT (ralley issue) but they really aren't made for the flares.

They'd be great for those backroads around Glenn Arbor or Harbor Springs... mint. If I weren't in bed with my netbook right now I'd rush out and grab a picture of the next "thing" to have.

I have a set of brackets and flaps for a late style rear valence, and brackets for the early valence. Anyone have a set of the early flaps that they are willing to part with, or loan for reproduction?

I can't miss the chance to dig Pat one more time. <grin>

Eric, Glenn & CW's (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stirthepot.gif)

Pat, we do this because we like you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Your more family fun to kick around than George Hussey & Jake Raby, because they carry a gun. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

Now for the serious part. Anything in the factory parts book is legal add ons. Make's us different from the normal 914 crowd.

I don't carry a firearm. Too final.
I DO wear a K-Bar, though. Used to work in Philly - have to have SOME protection.

And once again I have to take ussue. Just because it is in the parts book doesn't make it appropriate in every space. Let's take, for example, Italian front/rear lights. Yepperdoodle, they are correct for Italy.....but not the US, because they weren't offerred on US cars from the dealers. Shouldn't have the side markers either, but if you COA indicates Italian delivery I guess you're OK.

Then there is the plehora of "euro" lights, which shouldn't have side markers either. But, so many think it's cool to have "euros". Wrong again!

Look, if you think that it's OK just because it's in the parts manual - think again, because you're incorrect.

Read the reg's on importation of early 70 cars - rear fogs were verbotten. H2/4's were the same. I'm sure that mud flaps were OK.

But, and this gets to the cruxt of the purpose of this forum, and I'm sorry to hurt my buds, rear fogs were not legal on early US 914s. Nor were they original. Yeah, they're cute (like your little sister with braces), but don't belong on US 914's.

I could have moved these posts a long time ago, but enjoyed the discourse. But let's get serious here.....they're bogus on a US 914, unless it has been exported to the Euro family.

Sorry, but that's the fact(s). And don't give me that crap about it being in the manual. That doesn't make it correct for the ROW.

To the newbies on originality, take note. Thing is, you old guys doing this should/do know better.
