This is a very embarrassing post however a few weeks ago, some local guys convinced me to take two of my cars up to a local drag strip for a test and tune night. My 911 is not exactly set up for drag racing however I figured that I should have no problems against Dodge Rams (with very modified Cummins Diesels). Well, I was wrong.
I did get a lot of wheel spin and my clutch is slipping however I thoroughly got my butt kicked. The truck that I was racing, let off the throttle because I was so far behind. I think that he normally runs 1/4 miles in the mid 12's. My time was pathetic. If everything was running right, I think that I would have gotten low to mid 13's. We were going to race my Cayenne Turbo (with the baby seat in back!) vs the rams but we ran out of time. I defense of the Porsche crowd- my car was basically stock (I did not have mufflers on during race) and their trucks were heavily modified. Next time, I will take them to race a road coarse against my 914- that would be fun to watch. heres the post (my race is about midway through the video): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g4T02MI89Q |

What is that car at 1:33 - it seems to haul some serious ass.
Modern diesel trucks are fun - my silly barely modified F-350 (2002 7.3 turbo) is flat out stupid. 3 wheel drive (no lsd on the front diff) launches are insane - some fool with an SS 454 pig wanted to race me on the way home a while ago. Flip switch to 4 wheel high and mash brake and go pedal as hard as possible and ZOOM - 8000 pounds of truck leaps to about 50 MPH (in a 50 zone) Flat out silly and I almost never do that as I like getting 20+ MPG.
