I pickep up Jim's car last weekend and got started on it today. Car will be pretty much stock. For right now I will be taking care of the metal work, after that is done I will either continue on with the body and paint, or Jim will take it back and do some of that himself. I spent last week assembling a paint booth and got back on Jims car yesterday. Next week will present a NEW project for yaz (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) Got the rest of the car ( minus windshield frame and targa bar ) sanded down. I counted 4 re-paints on most on the car ( 9 coats of paint ) and I sanded all but the first 1-2 coats off, then mudded the low spots. I will next be putting a couple coats of high build primer on, then hand blocking. In the thrid pic you can see one of the issues I have to deal with. 3 coats down I have a layer of primer and paint that had NUMEROUS air pockets in them. The layer of paint also seems not to have been hardend as I gummed up my sand paper as soon as I start sanding it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) This all must come off. Trunk lid has MORE coats than the rest of the car does (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
