I pickep up Jim's car last weekend and got started on it today. Car will be pretty much stock. For right now I will be taking care of the metal work, after that is done I will either continue on with the body and paint, or Jim will take it back and do some of that himself. Any way, here we go (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Nicely done Scotty... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)
The following questions are for my education only. How long do you wait after you add the filler before you begin sanding? How long is that sanding board you're using? Why didn't you strip the paint down to bare metal? Thanks for taking the time to photo-document your steps. --Rob |

Nicely done Scotty... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) The following questions are for my education only. How long do you wait after you add the filler before you begin sanding? As soon as it is set up. Usually 10-15 minutes How long is that sanding board you're using? I have several boards all the way up to 40" long. I use the appropriate one for the section being worked Why didn't you strip the paint down to bare metal? Most people have a budget they want to stay within and it is up to me to figure out how to get the best job for the amount of money allocated. I have to attack each car differently. Jims car had ALOT of paint that needed to be removed, but I saw nothing to necessitate a complete strip. The original and first repaint were well done and had good adhesion Thanks for taking the time to photo-document your steps. --Rob Jim, the orange and red is the trunk lid ( rear) it was replaced I assume at the time the rear was hit and " fixed " The rest of the car is all white. Forgoit to post this pic last night. Hopefully this is the LAST of the rust. I have a donor corner for the trunk and will be working on that tomorrow and most likely friday.
