These will need to be hand finished with silicone carbide paper but first tape it down to a hard surface to work on it. Or taped to a board and put in a vibratory finisher with small media with abrasive media mixed in cast polyester plastic. This works great for this type of work. You do not want to bevel the backside. After you are done with the vibratory polishing you can put the part in acetone to remove the tape. Or cut it or heat it.
The factory parts are sanded after they are cast in white metal. I have looked my 914-6 VW Porsche unit and note the shrink marks from the casting plus I can see the bevels. Bob |
