Today I lined up with a 350Z; I let the clutch go at 2K, good launch, and shake, shake, bang, grind, and grind. Axle adapter breaks, shears the starter from the Trans, and proceeds to lodge itself on the shift linkage, and leaving me with my pride back at the light, and my car stalled in the 3rd lane from the right on PCH, with no gears available... Considering that the power for the entire fuse box goes to the starter, and that it fell off,I am lucky I didnt fry any wiring and/or watch my car burst into flames.
Good day, Shot to (IMG:style_emoticons/default/post-2-1117899824.gif) Now looking at this I am learning a valuable lesson, that it is valuable to undo your CV and retightening the Axle adapter after 2k miles, and how can I make sure this never happens again...? I know someone thought of this, but has any one welded the adapter to the Trans axle snub? Just a thought.... BTW: I only make 216hp/ 276 ft-lb at the wheel...and am using the renegade hybrids axles... Not that it is their fault I did not do proper maintenance...but WTF! It's better to give a guy a few yards off the start than to hand him your pride in a basket. Sorry about your mishap...it could have been much worse.
Number 1 rule: Never dump the clutch on a 901 with a V8, you may get away with it a handful of times and make some really cool burnouts, but eventually you'll destroy your transmission, tear a console ear etc. Not worth it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) Also noticed you do not have your outer cv bolts wired with safety wire. Not sure what you can do to the RH adapter bolts, never had them.
