To me it comes down to this:

I am still afraid, very afraid that we are gonna get hit again. Maybe the people on this board wth few ties to NYC do not feel the way that I do, but I am really scared. Not just for me and my family, but for you and all of yours. It is something that is lurking there in the darkness, just waiting to happen.

Historically, pacification has been shown to be a failure; the Germans, the USSR, the Japanese, and others. Allowing aggressors to act unchallenged makes for much bigger problems later. Look at 9/11 and understand that those people were emboldened by their successes at the previous World Trade Center attack, the USS Cole, Khobar (sp) towers and others. We did nothing at the time to try and stop them. This emboldend these people to do more.

Seeing what just happened in Spain, we should all be expecting something come November. These people know when our elections are just as they knew when Spain's elections were. That attack was timed to influence the vote in Spain, and the Spaniards went along with it. Could you imagine an attack here, 3 days before election day? Trying on change an US Presidential Election with terror?! I can not begin to imagine how that would affect the voters. If you look at Spain, the encumbent party was pro-US with their involvement in Iraq. It was looking like they were going to win again, albeit in a close race. Now, they have been tossed out by the people in favor of the Socialist party there. That is chilling.

Then this: Kerry Challended Over Comments on Foreign Leaders

So John Kerry tells people that foreign leaders are rooting for him. He won't name names (he'd be fool if he did), but he says that these leaders have told him as much. This alarms me a great deal. I expect that the leader of any country would be looking out for the best interests of the the contry that they represent. So who's interests are they looking out for when they root for Kerry? Theirs or ours?

Disclaimer: I voted for Bush and probably will again. I think the gay marriage amendment and the FCC crackdown (other than on Janet Jackson) is a waste. I think the alien amnesty program is a terrible idea. However, I actually like the fact that the French and the Germans (and others) do not like our policies. I know it sounds arrogant, but I think we have to look out for our best interests first, and to me that means security. As I said before, I am still very afraid. In a choice between Bush and Kerry, my level of fear rises tremendously with Kerry. Kerry makes me feel more vulnerable than Bush does. This may be irrational, I may be over-reacting, but I would rather have the EU mad at us, then have bombs going off on trains and buses.

Sorry for the rant, but we are far from being out of the woods with these extremists and a soft hand will emolden them.
