My 914 seat belt retractors don't work very well. I'd like to keep the retractable function. Does anyone repair the retractors? The belts and the rest of the harware seem okay.
Does anyone know anything about the eBay item # 330088556824 belts? Mel |

I was talking to Clay the other day about seat belts and he said that 944 seat belts are pretty much bolt on replacement for the 914. He did say that there was a bolt or a shim that you had to cut off, but other than that, it was a direct replacement. |

He did say that there was a bolt or a shim that you had to cut off, but other than that, it was a direct replacement. So, I picked up a set of 944 seat belts for my 71 914 for free! I've also heard the stories about fitting these seat belts on the older cars. In my case, my car has been retro-fitted with the later style back pad and seats. I think I can make these seat belts work with a little modification to the back pad, belt/pin and massaging the firewall. Has anyone done this same mod to their 70-71 and do you have any pictues and or dimensions to share? I am making the assumption that these belts are designed to be mounted on the firewall and not the floor or longs area. Am I correct? Thanks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |
