OT - Audi S4 and/or A6 2.7 turbo, good, bad ugly... Options

I'm shopping for a new used DD for my wife. I'll get behind the wheel occasionally myself, but it will primarily be her ride. I'm looking at several different cars (all German), but one of them is a 2001-ish Audi S4 with the 2.7 turbo motors. I'm curious about the reliability of this particular platform. Anyone have practical experience with this model? Let's keep this on topic please. I don't need to discuss what other cars I should consider, etc... I know what I want and don't want. Just trying to find out if one of the candidates is reliable or has issues of any kind. Every make/model has it's own particular issues, some are worth dealing with, some aren't. You get the idea... I love this car. Eventually I'm actually going to have to actually give it to my wife. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) I like it so much I'm considering trading the GLI for an S4 that was just upgraded last year to RS K04 turbos. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/burnout.gif)

Alternatively considering picking up another A4 Avant 2.8 5 spd and adding a blower.

Koni coil overs all around. I didnt want to go to low as I wanted the suspension to be able to work and transfer weight. Sport front bar and 22mm rear w/ reinforcement (dont put on a rear bar without reinforcement, youll see when you get under it). With good street tires it does 1.04g's on a low speed skidpad. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) 255awhp makes for some fun autox's as well. I've got a video somewhere.. They are a bit soft for my liking, but they do great at the autox.

They have been doing all of the fab work on Jeffs car - the thing is becoming rediculous. They are currently making him another custom intake and exhaust. That car is making crazy HP - all out of a single turbo 2.5.

As well, Steve Rowe formerly from 3R shares shop space with a guy who is doing all of the final tuning to the car. I will get his name and pass it over.

I was wondering how long it was going to take you to respond to this thread Scotty! You know, I don't want crazy power. And I wasn't thrilled with the turbo lag that the S4 Avant that I drove had. But these cars are killer nice for daily driver use. A 2.8 with that blower kit in the link I posted would be perfect. But the dude with the S4 wants to get out of his payment and I want to move the GLI on. This would save us both the hassle of trying to sell our respective cars. And he's a hard core, card carrying vintage water cooled VW cult member, so he appreciates my GLI with 63k original miles and knows it's not a $3k beater. We'll see how it all shakes out.

It looks good. The Avant has H&R coilovers and is lowered about the same height give or take a half inch. I like it. It's a little firm, but not too much for street driving (which is it's main purpose). It has a rear bar on it already. Must be a wagon thing. I didn't look all that close when I was under it last. It probably won't ever see an autocross course during my ownership anyway though.
