(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) to both Andy! .... many eyes are better than any one pair!
I was just pointing out in addition that there is yet another yellow & maybe a green on there by the door handle - as well as the orange (I did notice the wells & long). So perhaps an accident or rust repair/replacement at the door/jamb? In addition to lacking the sidemarkers & PORSCHE letters - it also has USA F TS & Taillight Lenses, but those would've been required to be changed upon import to the USA - IIRC. I just noticed too that it's a USA 914-6 rear badge, not the VW-Porsche one. Makes one start to wonder!? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Wolfgang needs to get someone near it to take a look in person! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) ... I'd want to know if this was a "made-up" or "rear" 914-6, with all of these discrepancies & oddities. BTW - Wolfgang's "new" -6 has a known original CA blue plate in the "D" series at late May 71, while my 73 2L has a "G" 16+ months later at Nov. 72 - so I'm guessing that it wasn't until 1975-76 or later to have this one's "U" series plates. I don't recall what year they added the 7th front digit to the CA blue plates (i.e: #xxx### series) - maybe 78 - 80-ish - prior to going to the white ones, so this plate was before that, but not much with "U" to "Z" series. So if an early -6 per the rear bumper, then it was definitely re-registered in CA later in the 70's, as I speculated above. Anyone out there have a CA blue plate with ### Uxx ?? - If so, what year was it registered for that plate in CA? |
