That is all the photos he has posted. Here is what he has said about it....
"The customer cars we have taken orders for so far have all been for Subaru engine / trans setups, but I like the simplicity and clean look of the Type IV / 901 combo. The engine that is in the car is a mock up block with the good transmission. The engine heads need a little machine work and then the final assembly of our improved type IV engine can be shipped to me and installed here. We took what started as an inject 2.0 engine and changed it to 103mm pistons, new can, lifters, followers, deep oil sump, high volume oil pump, Weber 44 IDF dual carbs, knife edge crank, and a few other goodies... It should be good for around 150hp, and with the car weighing under 1000 pounds as it sits, it should have plenty of power for my driving ability." "I started as a customer for the guy who does the fabrication, then we started a company to sell these cars. I don't know if we are ever going to make any money, but if I can recoup the money I spent getting the company funded I will be happy. Thanks for the compliment. With the only thing lacking is 'finishing' I think the car will look better and better as we get to the finish line." "As far as who is building my motor, the guy that did the fabrication is an independant Porsche tech, so he is building the motor. We went with some bigger pistons, and mild engine work, so it should be pretty reliable. We are hoping for around 150hp with our 2.3 litre displacement. I am getting the heads machined locally since there aren't any shops that do that type of work close to Richmond, KY. Hopefully I can get the heads done this week, and the engine assembly should get done by the end of next weekend (fingers crossed). I have plenty of other stuff to do to finish the car here anyway, so I doubt I will be waiting on the finished engine to complete the build." I asked if Jake was building his motor and this is his reply.. "We need to get more of the Type IV motors in these cars to quiet the swell of buyers with Subaru loyalties. I have read tons of info on Raby's site. We are using lots of SCAT parts in the engine, but the pistons and cylinders are AA performance." |
