Getting ready to refinish my stock muffler on my 74 1.8
What color paint were they from the factory? I have seen grey and some in black. Mine is black, but not sure if it has been repainted. Dansk replacements are grey. |

I think they were all light grey because the motors were modified type 4 VW engines that used Leistrick (spelling) mufflers. I use VHT spray paint (Very High Temperature) that lasts about a year or so. Your other option is to have it ceramic coated in grey. That finish will last the life of the muffler. Of course this option is considerably more expensive, say $150 to $200. Here's a picture of what mine looks like:  Dave |
