Okay, as many of you know Christine is down with a low compression reading on #3 cylinder. Today she gets exploratory surgery to hopefully find and correct the problem. Ken and I will be performing the operation and being as neither one of use are mechanics, she will need all the prayers she can get. This is actually taking place in about an hour in a parking lot. This should give you an idea of the danger the poor girl is in.

Okay, I guess Christine is named properly for sure. I get a call this evening and my mechanic ask if she is running yet. I explain to him that no, she isn't as I pretty much have run out of time to work on her for now. He generously offers to finish her up and help me out if I can get her to him tonight. Being thrilled at this offer I load her up on the tow dolly and all of the goodies that go with her. Do a final walk around to make sure I'm not missing anything. Jump in the truck and take off. Get out of the neighborhood and about 1/4 mile up the road when I feel a jerk. Iimmediately look in my mirror to see what is going on. About this time I hear a screech and a very loud thud and then see a wheel go air born off the street and through the ditch into the darkness. Stopping immediately and hopping out I see my left rear wheel missing and Christine squatting on her hub. I grab a flashlight and start directing traffic as I call Ken to come help.(Had just left his house) Then comes a guy fatter than me(if that's possible) come walking up the hill. Says to memy wheel got him! Finally get ahold of Ken and start searching for lug bolts and the guy offers to help find the wheel. Sure enough he had hit it hard enough to make it clear a ditch, jump the fence and land in a yard. I inspect his Maxima but it shows no real signs of damage other than a driving light knocked off it's mount, the nose cone is loose and it has a nice imprint of my tire tread on the bumper in front of the driver. Find one lug bolt, swiped 3 more from the front as they were on the dolly anyway. Get her jacked up, installed the spare(the one that came off was bent like a big dog)and torque everything down and finally dropped her off at the shop. Sure am glad somebody else is taking care of her now. I needed a break. Now to deal with the insurance claim to get dude's car fixed. Not sure whether to claim it on my truck insurance since I was towing, or my car insurance since the wheel came off the car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Stay tuned for more Christine stories. Oh yeah, you might want to start praying for me instead of Christine. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
