I know this has been discussed before...but...
Pors-chah, two syllables, soft "a" sound, is viewed by many as correct and how Porsche says its name in the commercials. Porsche, one syllable, how many North Americans pronounce it. Pors-chea, two syllables, hard "a" sound, a new twist (to me) on the ol’ name. I have a new German customer who dropped off his car, he had a German couple (mid-50's) with him. I said Porsche the NA way (old habits die hard) and then corrected myself "Pors-chah." He says no-no it's prononced "Pors-chea".(IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Even Germans can't agree how to pronounce the name Porsche. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |
