I read a lot about the KB Hypereutectic pistons but, I've not really heard about the Silv-o-lites. From what I researched these are hypereutectic pistons as well but, I can't seem to find the part number on the box anywhere online.
Anyone know if these definitely work as the 96mm "Big Bore" kit for a 1.8L? That's what the seller claimed and I got a screamin' deal for these. Seriously, I paid less than a hundred bucks for this set! Anyone? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That wrist pin is low. I just installed a set of Silvo-lites today, but they didn't look like that. Try calling KB. Mark, would you be able to give me a measurement from the top of the pin to the top of the piston? If they end up being for a 2.0 and not a 1.8then.. I would be very interested in taking them off your hands??? Good Luck I will call you immediately if that is the case. Well looks like I will need to break out the mic. I don't have a stock 1.8L piston to measure. The engine is still running and in the car. I'm just stockpiling parts for the rebuild. The add said they were Porsche 914 1.7/1.8 and Bus engine big bore 96mm pistons. Now I'm worried about the pin height! I guess a call to KB is in order. Thanks guys. |
