Question: How to avoid a rusty wiper arm pivot valley? Options

...you get the idea.

My 74 was finally shot this week oem silver. (que canned applause.)

I remember one of the things that always bothered me was the rust residue that would gather on the paint from the wiper pivot in the valley where the arm would attatch to the linkage on the cowling in front of the windshield.

?Does anyone have recommendations (other than "don't get caught in the rain.") as to what I can do on installation to avoid this as I re-assemble post paint?

Stainless steel 8mm nut / washer?
Plastic washer / cover at base? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

I did pick up a pair of 911 wiper arms that have the plastic cap over the mounting nut but I have seen this valley fill with water submerging the pivot hardware until I soaked it up with a towel.

Advise requested.
