So I came across this while looking at another thread on Pelican. I've seen the scissor lift's before. I've been scrolling Craigslist for the last year or so for one. While in the other thread there was a link to Harbor freight. scissor lift With one of their 20% off coupons that get's it down to $800. That is very reasonable.
So my question is who has one? Can you pull your motor with one without interference? What are the pro's & cons of them? Old thread I am reviving as I finally am buying one |

Just a word of caution as I found this out the hard way....
When these companies rate their lifts at 48" that is the full lift height off the ground with all attachments installed. Sounds great huh? Well that's not actual lift, you have to subtract the amount of height when it's collapsed (with all the attachments on) and that might be 8 inches to give you an actual lift of 40". It's a really crappy way to rate them. You need to ask how much actual "hydraulic lift" they have. That means the actual MOVEMENT upward and that is far less than the specs. Unfortunately 80% of the companies can't even tell you that spec or understand it. After learning the hard way I bought a nice Bend Pak SP-7 with a 6 foot lift and sunk it in the concrete. Here are two pics on top of the concrete and then after I sunk it. It's an awesome lift that you can stand under, not crawl under. I'm getting too old for that crawling routine. ![]() ![]() |
