Hi All –
Thought some might find this interesting – pretty excited. We are doing a jag C-type replica. It is pretty exact, being built off of the factory blue prints. Initially, the upper half of the body and the clamshells were going to be fiberglass, as having them done in aluminum would more than double the cost of the build. About a month ago we received a call from the builder that he had a pal in the aerospace field who really wanted to branch out into doing some car stuff with carbon fiber. After many discussions, he said he would recreate the body for our C-type. The molds were shipped out last month. The body was delivered yesterday! It weighs less than a third of the fiberglass body. If the layup lines were a bit better, I would almost think about not painting it. The lower half of the body/passenger compartment will still be aluminum. Attached image(s) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Here are a couple more. I thought this was extremely cool. On the original car, the air scoop on the hood was a direct feed to a box over the carbs - no air filter at all.
On this car, I had the air box made just a tad bigger to allow the fitment of individual cone filters. It looks completely stock from the outside - you would have to measure the box to know it was not correct. Kinda slick. Attached image(s) ![]() ![]() ![]() |
