The top bolt on that holds the starter on has a casting bump on each side of the bolt head. I can hardly get a open end wrench on the top of the bolt and for sure cant turn it without hitting the casting bumps that are right against the bolt. No way will a socket go on ether. Do I grind the bumps off? Is there another special tool I need to buy?

It's suppose to be like that. Remove the bolt/nut from inside the engine compartment.
