Okay, here's the full story:

73 1.7, carbed.

Square old fuel pump died. . .replaced with a round Napa one

Then started acting like vapor lock, fuel pump was REALLY hot
Finally wouldn't run at all. . replaced with identical fuel pump (warranty)

Ran great in hot and cool weather until today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

Drove 11 miles home from work (ran fine), stopped at the mail box. . exhaust smelled a teeny bit rich. Got mail. Started car. . drove 200 feet and it died and wouldn't start, acting like vapor lock. 1/2 tank of gas more a bit more. . pushed it the rest of the way home and am frustrated.

So, what fuel pump SHOULD I be using??? Maybe I have procured the wrong one? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Have I left any needed info out? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Thanks
Sean

You might be able to do it from below after removing the gravel guard covering the inner tie rods but it would be easier if you pull the tank. It takes me < 20 min's to pull my tanks, now. On the bottom of the tank you will see the nut to loosen. The screen aka sock will be under it. BTW, the screen can be viewed when looking inside the tank. Take a look to see if it is covered w/ crud.
