I doubt you will regret it either. The reverse colling is nothing new to the conversion world. The Lt1 is a fine work of GM and has been used for years. The FI system is on the late models, its not the reason people shy away from it. Its the torque it puts out that makes people use a different setup. Most people want the shorter stoke higher revving, lower torque engines to save the transmissions. I myself, am building another engine/transmission combo to install at a later date. I want to build a 383 full roller motor with a 930 transmission to install in my car. I built the same engine for my 67 Chevelle about 4 years ago and it was dyno'ed at 475 HP with 535 Ft lbs of torque. It was the first car I ever drove that would pull the front end off the ground. If its all about power and speed, then that is what I want to build. Just to see how it will do. I maybe just blowing my money to tear the car in half, but if I do, I will just build another one with less power and start over again. These are hobbies right?
