IMHO keep the car. If it spent its whole life in your family, the greatest value is there.
I restored my Dad's 914 (search Dads car) and I easily spent $25000 on the full restoration. Not many people sign up for those projects. I did it for the connection with my Dad. Its likely the legitimate sale for the highest price will send the car to Europe where it may actually become a race car. Most of the people who have done this really don't care about the history that much. If you don't know these cars, you may want to consider taking it to any number of experts on 914s, understand the true condition and value, and then achieve your goal. Again, consider keeping the car if you can. |

I have a feeling this bidder is going to flake and i'll have to repost... |
