I started a thread in the member vendor section to keep the garage clean. Please commit over there, and not here to keep things organized. Thanks everyone!
Member Vendor link Hey guys, so a friend of mine owns a store that sells wheel stud conversion kits for BMW's, and is getting involved in Porsches. He had mentioned being interested in selling a kit for 914's at a group buy price if enough people were interested in it. The kit includes 16 thread in studs, and 16 high quality ball seat nuts. (these nuts are not the cheap imitators. These actually fit our ball seat wheels). Both are made in Europe and are TUV certified, so it's good quality hardware. The studs are bullet nose, and thread in with an allen wrench. Installation is easy, and only require the removal of you wheels. Here's a pic from his website of the dimensions of the stud that will come with the kit: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/www.motorsporthardware.com-9714-1352904604.1.jpg) I'll know pricing options when I get back with him later today, but for those interested, please chime in. Thanks everyone, Ethan Okay, we have pricing back Pricing: The available kits are as follows: 4-Lug (16 studs and nuts) 82mm with Silver/yellow Zinc Ball seat nuts: $100shipped 82mm with Black OEM grade Zinc Ball seat nuts: $137shipped 5-lug (20 studs and nuts) 82mm with Silver/yellow Zinc Ball seat nuts: $110shipped 82mm with Black OEM grade Zinc Ball seat nuts: $147shipped Discount structure: 1-10 kits - Prices posted above (Special introductory pricing!) 11-20 kits - $5.00off 21-30 kits - $7.00off 31-40+ kits - $10.00off We're aiming for an end date of December 9th at midnight. Payment instructions will come after the group buy has closed. For those who want to receive their studs BEFORE the group buy has ended, that is available, but you would forfeit any further discounts. For example, say we have 24 people. If you want to receive your set now, you would only be eligible for the $7 off. If the group buy reaches another discount tier, you would forfeit that discount. |

Again, these bullet studs may stick out a bit far for some people on stock cars. Later on Ryan will be releasing kits that are shorter, and for more stock styled applications.
For those of you that are interested in installing a kit on your bone stock 914, we will be offering a kit specifically tailored to it, using close ended aluminum Porsche factory style nuts. The studs being offered in this group buy are bullet nose, and not flat on the end, and are Black zinc. The bullet nose studs are more expensive, as is the black zinc process. based upon the pricing that I've been seeing from Ryan lately in regards to a similar kit, 034 is 5 or so bucks more expensive than kits that will be offered for stock applications And per the 034 site..: "Take note, don't be fooled by companies offering Porsche Ball nuts, they have a much wider diameter seat that does not fit correctly in VW/Audi wheels and essentially damages the seating surface." Their ball seat nuts are for the Audi Radius and diameter, not Porsche unfortunately. Again, for those of you who are interested in a kit for a bone stock 914, that looks completely stock, please hold out on the group buy. Another deal will be coming for those of you who are not running any spacers, stock offset/bug offset wheels, and/or stock profile tires. Please excuse the crappy cell phone pic: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/i260.photobucket.com-9714-1354408975.1.jpg) These are on EMPI fake minilites with a bug offset, and I will say, they look a little out of place. This is on a completely stock car. |
