Just setting up for testing my new timing light an I saw this lead disconnected. I pulled out my trusty Haynes and my guess is that it's the thermo-time lead wire?
Is this supposed to be on the positive terminal of the coil?Attached Image

You are correct. It's for the A/C Unit.

Thanks dlee, at least I won't have to hunt for those wires when I put the a/c back in service next spring! I would suspect that those are the trigger wires for the compressor, I have a bit of research to do this winter on which parts I'll use for the new system, originally a VPC unit. I've been saving up lots of info and suggestions from the "Garage" prior posts.

And thanks to all others for the suggestions. I showed this forum to a friend that owns an old Mercedes , he couldn't believe the camaraderie and quick responses to technical issues of other members (other than the battle going on with the dude and his "first look at a 914" post (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) )
