![]() I picked up this 71 a few months ago, and have started a full restoration. It appears to have been repainted at least three times. The car was originally Metallic Gold. I'm going to try and get it to as close to how it was born, and will be shooting for a number 2+ car. It is currently at the media blaster, then off for metal work, and body/paint. I think the car may have had a small fire or two in it's life. When I tore down the motor. It was covered in what looked like melted plastic. Not sure what it was. The gas tank area was covered in what looked like fire extinguisher powder as well.
I checked compression before pulling the motor out and #3 was at 40lbs. Found out that the head burned through. I tracked down a rebuilt set of 1.7 heads in NC (Thanks Bill), and am having Pat at Vee W Unlimited build it back up. ![]() ![]() |
