They have been around for quite some time.
I was working in the dental cad/cam industry 10 years ago and we would use them to do dental prothesis where the printing needed to be in the few microns precise. Today, we used them almost everyday to build prototypes of climate car seats blower housings. I guess they are moving more towards amateur users as they are becoming cheaper. Different fabrication materials too, metal included. |
