Hello all. Hope I'm in the right place. Thinking of buying a 73 914 with the Subaru svx conversion already done (in a garage) It's a California car so no rust. How do I know if it's been done reasonably correct. Can I assume that the worst thing that could happen is that the engine could be bad and I'll just need to replace it. It's an SVX 6 with the original 914 transmission. Does that set up sound correct? My goal is to be able to drive anywhere without worry. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, the car is currently on ebay.

Renegade builds some cool stuff. You could build one yourself for under $20k. Maybe under $10k if you can do your own work.
I built my first V8 (Ford 5.0 EFI) 914=$2500, Motor=$200 (actually a complete donor Mustang), Kennedy Engineering adapter & clutch=$600, Misc parts=$500 I did all the work myself and put it together cheap! Super fast and fun... |
