I seem to be suffering from broken clips syndrome. I broke one of my trunk targa top clips a week or two ago and I just found that the clip that holds the rain tray drain/spring break beer funnel in place is also broken. Any recommendations on what glue to use to dry to get these back together? I tried epoxy on the targa clip but I think the break was to clean and the epoxy didn't have anything to "grab" on to. Wandering if model glue, the type that fuses the plastic together, would work better. Any suggestions would be great! or maybe I'm the only one this has happened to... Just by a new one and avoid the cost of buying a bunch of glues that won't work well for this application. The material itself is a slick plastic which is difficult to glue, and the part is probably old and brittle.
The next break is usually right across the glue line for one of two reasons. First, glues are almost never stronger than the material being glued so the softer glue line is a natural break point. Two, glue doesn't stick well to certain types of plastic (like this one) and the glue separates from the plastic. |
