not looking for judgement or opinions, just simple question about koni front strut housings and what inserts fit koni obviously, but what about kyb g series blistein other? |

It's all about the thread pattern on the inserts.
Most 911SC models (the years you specified) came with "Boge" struts. Those later SC Boge struts (black as per the pictures above) have the 3.5" spacing "but" they have a "Boge" thread pattern for the insert. Koni makes the orange struts you see above. They have a Koni thread pattern so only Koni inserts fit these struts. Same thing with the green Bilsteins you see above. Bilstein thread pattern and Bilstein inserts. Because Boge was so prevalent in the SC's (almost all of them), the other manufacturers make replacement inserts for them with the Boge thread pattern so, in a way, they're more desirable for the multitude of insert choices (even if some of those choices are KYB) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |
