I have a small package of Carrillo Rods (9lbs) that I need to ship to Sydney...both UPS.com and FEDEX.com estimate the charges to be approximately $120 from a drop off location here to the Sydney International Airport. Does anyone have any insight on a method of shipping that is reliable and cheaper...

Cheapest way and slowest way is by boat. e.g. Matson shipping lines. Save the most money if you pack it up, take it to the shipping office at the dock and guy on the other end picks it up at the shipping office at the dock there. For $120, you could probably send multiple crates to Austraila that way.

They go by volume, not by weight. Downside is that it is sloooow. Upside is that it is cheap, you cut out the middle men in the shipping.
