Congratulations to the seller.

I would assume this car is going to a collector (like Leno) or a museum. A 914 1.8 is in no way (even new) a car I would give up that kind of money for. I hate to tell you this; but, I wouldn't even pay that for a real 914/6.

There is a huge list of cars I would rather have for $42K. In no particular order they are:

Porsche 993
Porsche 996 Turbo
Porsche 997
Porsche Cayman S
Aston Martin DB7 Vantage
Ferrari 328/348
Lotus Turbo Esprit (V8)
Acura NSX
etc.....

You can argue collectibility; and , in the long run you may be right. However, the 914 in no way would excite me like owning one of the cars above.
