Getting real close to getting her back on the road after hell hole repair, tranny rebuild, oil leak elimination (dang, almost got em all..) and now I'm thinking about the winter project being (or not) swapping to earlier bumpers.
I have a nice set in the garage, I just need lights and grilles. Am I (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif) to do either? Of course there's other reasons why I qualify, but we'll stick with the bumpers fer now... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) Thanks |

I swapped my '76 bumpers for early ones just for looks. I got some sorry early bumpers from a junk yard. I had one new front bumper top and one nasty rear one they gladly GAVE me while laughing, from the junk yard. It was a lot of work and the bumper repair and paint wasn't cheap (body shop) and a real chore to repair the rear topper (me).
I did a lot of sweating and cussing, but after it was all done....I like it. Come to thnk of it, I think I can recognise the difference in feel on the highway. Maybe the heavy ones did feel better at 75 mph, really. But I do like the looks now. Maybe I'll put 50 lbs of tools in each trunk when I travel. Anybody need a very good condition set of late bumpers, covers, and hardware? Free for PU. |
