Guys,
Im not sure what you are using for an SMTP mailer daemon... But, check the log files to see how many hits you are taking in any given hour... It could be that port 25 is to busy... If that is not the case, could be the server farm is being shut down on port 25 (DOS) I would reccomend installing your own port sniffer program for testing when you have these problems...makes diagnosis much quicker...
