Watched a show tonight about Drifiting in the US, my wife commented about me driving our 911 like that (hanging the tail out, yippeeeee)...

I think the 914 might be better suited for this sport.

Not too sure what the rules are, I wonder if they allow engine transplants or conversions??? hmmmmm

Comments???

Speed is not an issue so how do they judge the winner?

You must have taken a pee break when they explained the points (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Speed is a consideration with the points (a car going faster while sideways will get more points than a slower sideways car), Points are also given with how well you can control the car staying closer to the walls with the @ss end of the car while drifting is worth more than staying in the middle of the course.

also, since the course changes direction, getting setup for the next turn/curve is very important,

At first I thought it was a goofy sport as well, but I bet half of the auto-x wannabes on this BBS cannot control thier car when it goes into a slide......I know spinning the tires and scrubbing off speed is not the fastest way around a auto-x course, but there are some corners that you can use a little drifting to get setup for the next corner or straight-away

what is funny is that many P-car people make fun of drifting, but when Hurley Haywood is test driving a Porsche on the track and pitching the rear end out people are awestruck..hypocrites I say, LOL (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif)
