What was the deciding factor in your choice of engine and did you have any install peculiarities unique to that engine.

currently its hard to find a clean running motor that is better than a core for reasonable prices...

I think? you already have your motor bought at a good price
it be harder to currently find a motor under budget... and over budget to rebuild one.

I'm working on a 2.4E conversion right now with slightly higher compression I honestly think I will have well over 4K into the motor
and another 5K into conversion parts...


I don't want to disclose the outrageous amount of money that went into the 2.0 twin plug race motor
(the head work alone was over 5K, and the total motor build cost was outrageous)

Engines have gone up! I used to buy what were then cores, but actually ran 6 Cylinder Motors for $500. I even found a Bunch of 911 Early Aluminum Cases (my 2.8 T-P is built off the Best One!) for $700 a piece. 3.0 & 3.2 are Great for a 914, but the days of finding someone pulling their good motor out of a Stock 85 to go race it a 3.6 and hand you off the 3.2 for $2000 are gone.

Race Motors are Off the Charts. My 2.8 if done by the Shop would sell for $40,000+
The Carbs are $4,000, the Dizzy is $2500, 12 Wires $550, and we haven't touched the Huge Current Price for the Case, all the Crazy Machine Work, Factory 2.8 P&C (I think they were $8,000).

The 2.5 is what I kept out of the White Race Car Deal I bought & Sold a few months ago. The Deal came from a Charity and the Car & Motor were from seperate Donors - Since they didn't have any connection, I had no problem selling the car without the motor. It's a 2.5 Twin-Plug Race Winning Motor in HSR, built by Franz Blam. It has 35 Race Hours and my Builder told me thats over-due for a Re-Freshening, which will amount to $11k after getting some PMOs & a Dizzy.
