(IMG:style_emoticons/default/evilgrin.gif) yep, I'm back. Issue #2 with my 914/6. I just installed the 901, just rebuilt by the very excellent Dr. Evil. Drove it home and the gears work great. However, I am getting a small "whirring" noise while driving, that goes away completely when the clutch is engaged.
Any ideas on the cause of the noise? M (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Thanks World. |

Did you replace the throw out bearing? If it is part of the gear stack, then it was either ok or replaced. Mike (Dr. Evil) did the rebuild. We just installed it back in the car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) I am thinking pinion depth is off a bit. Would that make sense to anyone? Would that cause a whirring sound when the car is rolling? Then goes quiet when. I push in the clutch? I just hate that because it requires dropping the tranny again and draining expensive swepco oil and pulling the stack out. Just a lot of work after all of this already done.
