It think its a case of "you get what you pay for". It is not just inflation. It is about doing it right. Sure, you can fix whatever caused you to have to rebuild for under $1500, and slap it back together. That is what was done on my engine years back and it always ran like crap. I mean, the car had zero power when it was cold. What the reason was, I still don't know. But I listened to people who I was at the mercy of, back when I was in school, and didn't have time to do my engine homework. I am willing to pay money now, for a better motor. I am looking at both a 911 T 6 cyl, and a peppy TIV. Type 4 seems to be how I am leaning because you don't have to deal with no heat and A/C issues. But I may change my mind, who knows.
