I just picked up this engine yesterday and after removing the tin and few leaves around it. Here is what I notice with the code.
Can someone verify if this is really 914 1.7 engine for 1971 year? Thanks again fellow teeners!   |

Those are smog pump heads, making it either a 1.7 bus motor or a 2.0 914 motor. Are there block off plated below #1 on the case and behind/above the taco plate? It has a 914 dipstick location, which "could" mean it's a 2 liter 914.

It looks like it came from 412/411 and the CJ beginning engine code at the bottom of the oil filler I think is from Type 2 engine. Maybe the previous owner made some collection of various VW engine parts and installed 914 tins on it. Well I hope someone from 914world would be interested using this for a core or temporary engine while building their engine. I may not be able to use this for my teens. Thanks again and God Bless! |
