Or it came from a 412, which had a dipstick and an oil fill tube provision.. If so the area at the bottom where the oil fill tube went would be blocked off.
Look between the blower housing and the crankcase greater (in the valley) for a number, too.

It looks like it came from 412/411 and the CJ beginning engine code at the bottom of the oil filler I think is from Type 2 engine. Maybe the previous owner made some collection of various VW engine parts and installed 914 tins on it.
Well I hope someone from 914world would be interested using this for a core or temporary engine while building their engine. I may not be able to use this for my teens.
